Single attraction in Muscat



Embark on your vehichle and drive towards Dhakilya region, well known as cultural and heritage capital of Oman. Nizwa was one of the early settlements in Oman and centre of trade, religion, education and arts. The renowned souk and Friday’s cattle market showcase nizwa’s rich tradition and heritage. Explore the narrow alleys of traditional souk, aromatic with spices, arabic perfumes and other Omani items. Our guide will give opputunity to taste and familirize various types of dates from different regions of middle east. Traditional Omani handicarfts like kanjars, sheesha, arabic pottries, costumes and various other Omani items are decorated by sellers in different shops. Visit to another mordern bulding give perception to the harvest in western hajar mountains and its valley. Visit the majestic 17th Century Nizwa Fort that once guarded the trade and region. The fort dominates the entire area, with the town having grown around the edifice. Access to the top is only by means of a narrow twisting staircase barred by heavy wooden doors, studded with metal. From the top of the tower one can get a bird’s eye view of the Nizwa city. The musuem inside the fort showcase about the history, culture and development of Nizwa area. Later drive for Jabreen and visit Jabreen castle which is one of the finest of Oman’s castles built in the late 17th century and became a seat of Omani learning. The castle displays the highest achievement in Omani ceiling painting & beautifully executed woodcarvings. We continue our drive to anceient walled city of Bahla Bahla was known as mystical village and famous for Arabian potteries. This mangificient mud fort from 12th century which is listed as UNESCO world heritage sites – Photo stops of the village and fort. Later drive for Al Hamra, the oasis village that unfolds into thick dates and banana planations. The oldest irrgation, Falaj system are still used in this village. Stroll through the alleys of village which has centuries old mud houses revealing to past lifestyle of the region. Return to Muscat by late afternoon.
